The Five Realms has been destroyed, and the remnant survivors are heading north in search of a new home. When the king falls ill, Sar Wilek must lead, while also dealing with assassination attempts and other wickedness. A prophecy about a mysterious "Deliverer" looms, and Wilek worries about what it might mean for his people. Williamson's mesmerizing writing and intriguing characters make this second series entry (after King's Folly) a must-read for epic fantasy fans.
