Set in a fantastical otherworld with medieval trappings, Williamson's epic novel, consisting of previously published standalone stories, is a cataclysmic journey of good and evil that combines classic fantasy with a spiritual tale of redemption. Williamson's ambitious undertaking comes complete with a map and list of characters (from king to slave) that will serve readers well as they navigate Prince Wilek of Armania's quest to find out what is causing the "fall ins," or caving of lands into the Lowerworld. Wilek also battles at home as he and brother Janek jostle to position themselves as heir to the throne of Armania. They will have to come together if they want to protect the throne from the sorcery of high priest Rogedoth. Sharp dialogue and lively action drive the story. Fantasy lovers who don't want to wade through gratuitous violence and sex will be glad to find Williamson (By Darkness Hid), a modern fantasy writer whose work is fit for the more pious Christian market and the many teens looking for epic stories with spiritual underpinnings. Agent: Amanda Luedeke, MacGregor Literary.
